Could Your Business Be Hacked? The Real Story Behind Cybercrime
about this event
Join us in person to uncover how cybercriminals target businesses—and what you can do to stay safe.
Cybercriminals don't just target big companies. Your business could be next — and it might start with something as simple as an email. An invoice that looks legitimate. A message from someone you trust. A stolen password. One moment of pressure. That's often all it takes.
Following his fascinating introduction at our recent AGM, the Kerikeri District Business Association is delighted to welcome back Chris Hoffmann, CTO and CISO of DTSL Group, for a special session exploring how cybercrime really happens.
Drawing on real incidents and hands-on experience, Chris will take us behind the scenes of modern cybercrime, revealing: • How cybercriminals target ordinary businesses. • The tricks they use to make emails, invoices and messages look genuine. • How artificial intelligence (AI) is making scams increasingly convincing. • What really happens when a business falls victim. • Simple, practical steps you can take to protect your business, your money and your people.
No IT knowledge required! This isn't a technical lecture filled with jargon. Chris explains everything in plain English, with real-world examples that will make you think twice the next time a suspicious message lands in your inbox.
Whether you're a sole trader, small business owner, manager or simply someone who uses email and online banking, this is a session worth attending.
Hosted by the Kerikeri District Business Association.
Admission: Kerikeri District Business Association members — FREE; Non-members and members of the public — NZ$10.
Come along, learn something valuable and leave better equipped to protect yourself and your business. Please arrive at 5.15pm for a 5.30pm start.
